DrKnow was conceived and designed by Dr. Craig Rudlin, M.D., F.A.A.P. The original version, in use for over fifteen years, was written in "C". The current version, written in Java, represent the collaborative effort of Dr. Rudlin and Steven "Jamie" Woodson.
Dr. Craig Rudlin is a board certified pediatric endocrinologist. He holds a patent, has been granted a trademark and several copyrights on his computer software and certified as an iForce Partner by Sun Microsystems. He has lectured globally and published articles on both computers and medicine.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, he graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in Biochemistry and cum laude from Harvard Medical School. He was an instructor in pediatrics at Harvard Medical School before returning to Richmond to establish his private practice of pediatric endocrinology. He studied with the world's authority on human growth and development, Dr. James Tanner at the Institute of Child Health in London. He is a member of the Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society, life member of the New York Academy of Science, Sigma Xi Honorary Research Society and the National Eagle Scout Association. He founded the Faber Amorum Foundation for children with diabetes, growth disorders and similar chronic diseases.
Steven "Jamie" Woodson graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in Chemistry and subsequently received his Masters degree from Harvard University. He has over ten years of programming experience and has been programming in Java since its inception. His programming expertise has produced programs for international pharmaceutical and manufacturing companies. He has invented numerous new Java classes and fundamentally enhanced many "standard" ones, to achieve the remarkable capabilities of DrKnow.
The Java version of the "NoteBook" section of DrKnow was written in part by Jay Ligatti. Jay graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of South Carolina with two degrees, one in Computer Science and another in Music (with a certificate of performance in piano). He is currently completing his PhD the Department of Computer Science at Princeton University.
Matthew Cowan, a graduate of the College of William and Mary with a degree in Business Administration, designs our website and instructional material, and works directly with customers and beta sites observing work-flow and user interaction. He thereby provides critical insight and recommendations for future enhancements to DrKnow.
Rick Snyder, a graduate of the University of Richmond with a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science, is the "point man" for the electronic transfer of data, interoperability, and the electronic connectivity between patients and their physicians.
During the years of development, Medical Software and Computer Systems, has had the honor of sponsoring and mentoring several gifted college students under the auspices of the Faber Amorum Foundation. Included in these ranks is Simon Helmore, whom we thank for his contributions to the Accounting and Lab modules.
