Entering a diagnosis
- Existing diagnoses automatically appear, along with any associated medications and the dosage. The physician may indicate a diagnosis is resolved with a single click. For continued or chronic diagnoses, the physician can change the dosage and/or write a prescription with merely a click.
- The physician (practice) can associate national standards of care or other recommended procedures, medications, therapies, etc., with any diagnosis. Subsequently, whenever this diagnosis is associated with the patient, these recommendations appear in the diagnosis window, and quickly ordered with a mere click.
- Whenever a diagnosis is entered, the system automatically displays national standards of care, diagnostic criteria, therapeutic recommendations and expected outcomes. In addition, notes, articles or information the physician has gathered pertinent to this diagnosis will also be displayed.
- While diagnoses entered here will automatically be placed on the superbill ("frontsheet") for the visit, the physician or bookkeeper may change the diagnosis on the superbill to comply with insurance requirements without affecting the medical record.
Entering a treatment
- Whenever a medication is entered, information on side effects, adverse reactions, precautions, etc, automatically appears in this window.
- For Rx, the physician is automatically notified of potential complications, drug-drug and drug-diagnosis interactions, and any allergies to the medication.
- When electing to discontinue a medication, the physician can indicate whether the decision is secondary to completion of therapy, non-efficacy, a drug side-effect, allergy to the drug, or patient non-compliance. This information will be shown in the synopsis section to make the physician immediately cognizant of why a drug was discontinued.
- If an allergic reaction has occured, the medication will automatically be added to the patient's allergy list.
- For Rx, the physician is notified if the medication requires pre-certification or is not on the approved list for the insurance company; alternatives are offered.
