Health Plans - Preventative Health & Anticipatory Guidance

The physician and staff are reminded of Preventative Care and Anticipatory Guidance items at multiple crucial points in the program:

(1) At the time a patient makes an appointment, thereby encouraging appointments of appropriate length to allow items to be performed

(2) When a new visit is initiated, to encourage compliance. The physician is notified as to which preventative care and anticipatory guidance items are due at time of visit, and as well as when an item was last assessed.

(3) When the physician examines the patient to document items.

When a preventative care or anticipatory guideline item is selected in a patient's chart, national guidelines and other information is displayed adjacent to the item
.

Also, for quality control, the practice can use a search engine to find patients due for various preventative care and anticipatory guidance items, e.g. search for all patients without three well child visits by 15 months of age. The population can be searched by age, date range, and one or various items.
